The Friday Song: Fragance

July 30, 2010

A few years ago, my best friend and I had this website The Friday Song, in which we asked music related questions every friday. This is the evolution.

I’m truly sorry for posting this so late, but I’ve been pretty busy. I’ll go back to school next monday and I am already losing my mind. I’ll update you on this during the weekend, right now, let’s talk about TFS.

A few days ago, I was working on a video project and Gackt’s music popped up to my ears. It’d been years since the last time I heard anything by Gackt, even though a friend of mine is really into him. This is one of my favorite songs by him, and I’ve been listening to it nonstop ever since. I hope you like it. *hurry*

I hope you enjoyed it, I may come and talk about it later, but for now, just bye!

The Friday Song: Deep Orbit

July 23, 2010

A few years ago, my best friend and I had this website The Friday Song, in which we asked music related questions every friday. This is the evolution.

The last few days have been pretty exciting so far. If things go as expected today I will finally have a Photography class I’ve been expecting for the last month. Also The 88 days project has got me thinking so much. Since it’s an ongoing process, I am already paying attention to my health, I am exercising more and becoming more conscious about what I eat. The next step in my list is improving my already awesome relationship, and since I had not seen my boyfriend in a couple of weeks (vacation) I’ll be meeting him again next week. I’m excited.

So, this week’s song is Deep Orbit by the mexican band Monoplug, The picture has literally nothing to do with this week’s song, but I liked it just to illustrate the concept, Also, I happen to find it very aesthetically pleasing. Not much to say this week ‘cept for the fact that I love this song, even if it’s not really new (it came out in 2006) and had not been able to kick it off my head for the last week.

Sadly, this week I don’t have any lyrics for you. The song it’s amazing, but not very mainstream. Sorry ponies, you’re just gonna have to listen to it and enjoy it “as is”.

The Friday Song: Here comes the rain again

July 16, 2010

A few years ago, my best friend and I had this website The Friday Song, in which we asked music related questions every friday. This is the evolution.

This week has not been my week. Nothing really going on, but still, I feel a strange vacuum I can’t really explain.

Actually, if you think about it, it has been one of my most prolific weeks in the summer, I got so much done, and tomorrow I’ll add more to my list. News? Well, apparently, I will start collaborating in a Magazine project, which will mean a hell lot of more work, just to top the hell lot of work I already compromised with school and my friends. But that’s ok

I am still wondering… but that’s ok too. Not a happy week indeed.

Anyway, TFS. I got obsessed over this song about two or three days ago. I had iTunes on shuffle, it came out and I hadn’t been able to get that tune out of my head. Hope you enjoy it, It’s The Cruxshadows’ cover of Eurythmics hit ‘Here comes the rain again’, I’m loving this one much more than I do the original.

Here comes the rain again
Falling on my head like a memory
Falling on my head like a new emotion
I want to walk in the open wind
I want to talk like lovers do
I want to dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you

So baby talk to me
Like lovers do
Walk with me
Like lovers do
Talk to me
Like lovers do

Here comes the rain again
Raining in my head like a tragedy
Tearing me apart like a new emotion

I want to breathe in the open wind
I want to kiss like lovers do
I want to dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you

So baby talk to me
Like lovers do
Walk with me
Like lovers do
Talk to me
Like lovers do

So baby talk to me
Like lovers do

Here comes the rain again
Falling on my head like a memory
Falling on my head like a new emotion
(Here is comes again, here it comes again)
I want to walk in the open wind
I want to talk like lovers do
I want dive into your ocean
Is it raining with you

Hope you liked it. I am tired as hell and feeling a bit sick, I just want to go to bed, but I’m a bit scared, cause last night as I was in bed, I heard weird whispers in my ear (true story) but I think it was just me falling asleep. Good night.

The Friday Song: Hollow like my soul

July 9, 2010

A few years ago, my best friend and I had this website The Friday Song, in which we asked music related questions every friday. This is the evolution.

I just came back from Mexico City. My friends Dafne, Abraham, Jose and I went on a cultural tour, our main goal was to go to Magritte’s Exhibit before it was over (we did it!) and (at least from my perspective) it proved that we can travel together without killing or hating each other (something that would’ve happened if we were other people). It was nice. I’d love to go back.

Every time I am in that city I reach to the conclusion that I love it. It gives me the same feeling San Francisco gives me. I think it has to do with the fact that both of them are big cities, and (in the case of Mexico City, at least its downtown) really beautiful. I just love it. I really want to go back.

Anyway, let’s get back to TFS. I think I have a confession to make: Ever since I posted Lady Gaga’s Wonderful I hadn’t been able to kick that song out of my head. It’s been there, repeating itself over and over again. So for today’s song, I just decided to play my iTunes on shuffle and pick the fist song I’d like to share.  The lucky one is Hollow like my soul – Emilie Autumn.

For some random reason, this song reminds me a lot of my boyfriend: About two years ago, I was deeply in love with him, with no hope whatsoever of us getting *back* together (yes, we dated for a while in the past and it failed miserably), back then I remember listening to Emilie Autumn night and day. One of the songs that I listen to the most was this one. Not that it really has (or had) anything in common with the way I felt back then, but still, the whole context had to do with my boyfriend. So, now I can help but thinking about him when I listen to it.

Luckily, things change within time, and now we’re back together, happier than ever and trying to avoid all the weird things that broke us apart in the past. I think that, in a way we both feel as if that time never actually happened. We’re just focusing on the good things. But I digress, here you have, Hollow like my soul.

Hollow like my soul

You think that you’ll get by
You will die
You will cry
When you think that you’ll survive
Just don’t try
Run and hide
My eyes are hollow like my soul

You think that you’ll get by
You will die
You will cry
When you think that you’ll survive
Just don’t try
Run and hide
My eyes are hollow like my soul

Just as I was walking by
My soul died
My heart cried
When you think that you’ll survive
Just don’t try
Run and hide
My eyes are hollow like my soul

So many times I ask myself
So many times I wonder why
So many times I ask myself
So many times I wonder why

You think that you’ll get by
You will die
You will die
When you think that you’ll survive
Just don’t try
Run and hide
My eyes are hollow like my soul
My eyes are hollow like my soul

Hollow like my soul
You think that you’ll get by
You will die
You will cry
When you think that you’ll survive
Just don’t try
Run and hide
Run and hide
Run and hide

Hope you enjoyed it, Emilie Autumn is one of my favorite singers. And remember, you gotta bang your Betty bongoes.

The Friday Song: Girl, you’ll be a woman soon

July 2, 2010

A few years ago, my best friend and I had this website The Friday Song, in which we asked music related questions every friday. This is the evolution.

One of my summer goals is to watch as many Tarantino Films as possible and since one of my boyfriend’s favorite movies is Pulp Fiction, today, I decided I would start with that one. I love Tarantino, (please, don’t stereotype me) but it’s the first time I watch Pulp Fiction in my life (I know! don’t give me that look!). I gotta say, I enjoyed it very much. Next monday I think I’ll watch Reservoir dogs, and we’ll see what comes after that.

But, anyway, we’re here to talk about TFS. This week I picked Girl, you’ll be a woman soon by Urge Overkill. The original version of this song is by Neil Diamond, and to be quite honest I don’t find such a big difference among them, I would just say Urge Overkill’s is a bit rockier, but still, both of them follow pretty much the same beat, and the voices are too similar for me but still, since this is the version featured on Pulp Fiction, I am offering you this. Enjoy, and imagine Uma Thurman dancing to it and then passing out.

Girl, you’ll be a woman soon – Urge Overkill

Girl, you’ll be a woman… soon

I love you so much, can’t count all the ways
I’ve died for you girl and all they can say is
“He’s not your kind”
They never get tired of putting me down
And I’ll never know when I come around
What I’m gonna find
Don’t let them make up your mind.
Don’t you know…

Girl, you’ll be a woman soon,
Please, come take my hand
Girl, you’ll be a woman soon,
Soon, you’ll need a man

I’ve been misunderstood for all of my life
But what they’re saying girl it cuts like a knife
“The boy’s no good”
Well I’ve finally found what I’m a looking for
But if they get their chance they’ll end it for sure
Surely would
Baby I’ve done all I could
Now it’s up to you…

Girl, you’ll be a woman soon,
Please, come take my hand
Girl, you’ll be a woman soon,
Soon, you’ll need a man

Girl, you’ll be a woman soon,
Please, come take my hand
Girl, you’ll be a woman soon,
Soon but soon, you’ll need a man

Hope you enjoyed it, I sure did. Now, go and watch Pulp Fiction if you hadn’t; it’s just one of those movies everyone has an opinion about (and I know I do) so just go and watch it.
